She is my roommate and friend of five years. We are very close although I often get scared she is lying to us. I wouldn’t confront her because some of her stories are very sensitive, and if I’m wrong I’ll feel terrible. Please give your opinion after reading!! I’m not going to give explicit details just Incase she’s on this app.

So my friend is very pretty, kinda wealthy and social, one could say she is very blessed in life. Whenever we have an experience and she tells other people, she tends to exaggerate a lot of the details. Not to the point that it’s unbelievable, but some of the stuff didn’t really happen. That’s not really the problem - we’ve all exaggerated before. She claims that her dad is friends with a very famous billionaire and also the past president of a important country because of his work. Her dad quit his job a few months ago, which she told us roommates, but now she said he lost his job and her family is suffering. Which I don’t understand because she still buys makeup and clothes all the time? My dad lost his job too a while back and I had to sell some my clothes in order to get pocket change.. she also claimed that she did a sport in high school yet she NEVER talked about that sport until college.

One of the things I most worry about is her health. She claimed that she had severe heart problems in high school and missed a large portion of a semester for it. I had classes with her all throughout high school and she never missed more than a day? She then changed and said they misdiagnosed her for THREE YEARS and that she actually has kidney problems. That’s when she hit us with: she has kidney cancer. I cried so hard when she told me this. I was so upset. She said that she chemo in high school but not for cancer and she was scared of losing her hair. I was so sad.

But the thing is.. she has seemed fine for the past eight months. She hasn’t missed any of the days we live together (school week, weekends at home) and she eats fast food and several coffees almost every day. She was also in a dance group more the beginning of the semester. She always says chemo is hurting her so bad but why is she eating so bad and never sleeping and going to sorority parties all the time? She says she has to take so many pills for cancer but there’s no pills in her room. We also asked her what hospital she goes to and she couldn’t remember the name and that she should really learn it. She’s been going there for years??? I eat healthier, sleep more, and am more tired than her and I’m perfectly fine.

I really want to believe my friend.. if she’s lying to me about cancer I don’t know what I would do :(
