Late period

So I just got my period after 9 months. That’s no surprise because I’ve always had late periods that take months and I’m not sexually active, should I be concerned about how often I get my periods. I already went to the dr and told him I only get my period like 1-2 a year and he checked me and said everything was fine should I go back? Will birth control help?
