Is it ok to choose the ring before the engagement/proposal?

Each couple to their own. I didn't actively pick out a ring but I had pointed out one that I thought was pretty. My husband bought for me like six months later after I had long forgotten about it.

before we got engaged, my husband and I were casually talking about marriage, he took me to a ring shop and had me pick out what I would like. what I didn't know is that he went back and paid for it before we left. i thought it was just something to do for fun or to pass time since we have done it before. a couple months later he proposed with my ring I picked out 😊

I think I would like to choose the ring. If he's going to buy me an expensive ring, I want to make sure it's something I love. My friend chose her own ring, her and her husband talked about marriage at one point then she went and chose the ring on her own. The proposal was still a surprise but she had given him the card with the rings serial # on it prior and let him do the rest. If I didnt get the opportunity to choose the ring I would still be happy and love that he spent time choosing something special for me BUT I'd rather choose it because he probably wont know what style I like.

My man picked out mine on his own,  the style I love and the perfect fit!! Loved being surprised, would’ve felt less special choosing it first

It shows what he would vision on your finger as well let you know he admires it for the fact that it holds value. He is able to step up & let you know your beautiful inside out no matter if he picks it or not.. 😀
