Membrane sweep and labour ?

I had my final OB appointment today and they did a membrane sweep by request. It was very uncomfortable, but I felt no difference from the typical cervix check. I’ve been 2cm dilated for two weeks, and I’m half a week overdue so hopefully this speeds up the process! 
Any ladies have experience with a membrane sweep? 
How soon did you go into labour (if you did at all from it)?

Well I was 37&6 days  and my OB did a cervical check but this time it hurt so bad and I knew he had to have given me a sweep . My body was very sore and that night my water broke .

After 2 weeks of off and on contractions, my OB did a membrane sweep at 39 +6. I had the bad cramping and it was difficult to tell when I was having contractions until they got closer together and intensified about 5 hours later. I delivered 12 hours after the sweep. My doctor told me in her experience the sweep is about 50% effective in kick starting active labor.
I requested the membrane sweep, but next time I think I will let mine and my baby’s bodies take their natural course and only take this route to avoid them breaking my water or having a medicated induction. Your next step will probably be having your water broken to try to induce if nothing much changes. Good luck. You’re almost there!
