My birth story! Ftm
Time to tell my story!
My due date was April 8, but my ob had planned to induce me at 38 weeks due to me having cholestasis.
I went in to emergency Monday evening (37+1) because I had developed a cold on Friday and my left ear wouldn’t stop ringing. Every time I laid down the room would spin and I was so dizzy.
They immediately took me up to maternity ward to monitor baby and checked my blood pressure. It was 165/109. The on call ob came and gave me some meds to try to lower my blood pressure. Then she did an ultrasound and noticed my placenta was mature and calcifying.
11:00 pm she said we are inducing you tonight. She checked and I was already 2-3cm dilated 🤷♀️ so she prepped a room and got me registered.
Around 12 I was finally moved to the birthing room and she checked me again. i was 4cm but was not feeling my contractions at all! She broke my water and started cirvadil to keep things moving along as my blood pressure was not going down .
At this point they strongly suggested an epidural even though I was in no pain and had wanted to go without one, but the baby was sunny side up and with me having cholestasis, preeclampsia, and my blood pressure not going down they wanted to be fully prepared in case I would need an emergency c section. So I got the epidural just before 2 am. Little pinch! She checked and I was about 6 cm now.
At 3 they started magnesium in an IV to try to lower my blood pressure. I’m telling you getting that IV hurt worse than the epidural!
3:30 I was about 8 cm. I started to feel my contractions, the epidural did not numb my left side at all and my right side was slightly numb from the thigh down.
At 5:00 she checked and I was 9.5 cm,. She had been trying to turn him all night but he kept moving back, but she finally got him turned at 5:30.
Time to start pushing! He was moving down nicely but his head was getting stuck on a ‘lip’. She helped bring his head past the lip. After a few pushes he was born at 6:01! I didn’t tear at all and he was 6 pounds 11oz at 3 weeks early!
He is in the NICU for a few days with a breathing tube as his lungs are a little weak but other than that we are both doing great!
For some reason I can’t attach a picture of him 😭
