Induce or Wait????

Question

Need some input.  My OB suggested inducing me at 39 weeks + 4 days.  No complications and baby is doing well.  This is my second pregnancy and am debating if I should take up on it.  So far, I have heard positives from friends but would also like any negative experiences to help me with my decision.  Or should I just wait it out and let it happen when he's ready?

If there is nothing wrong with your or baby then there is no need to induce until around 41 weeks

I would try to induce labor naturally first, not dumb stuff like castor oil but more like sex, walking, squats, etc

It’s best for your baby to wait for them to come when they are ready. I wouldn’t consider induction until you reach the 42 week mark. Babies come when they’re ready, and due dates are iffy, since a lot of women don’t know the exact time they conceived. I think early inductions should only be done if there is a medical indication for it, such as preeclampsia or gestational diabetes.

I’d wait unless there’s a medical reason. I had to be induced with my first and it took almost 3 days and 3 hours of pushing before she actually arrived. I was given the option to induce at 39 weeks with my current pregnancy but I am definitely opting out unless my bp rises like it did the first time.

I got induced due to preeclampsia the day after my due date. Fortunately I was already in early labor so it worked like speeding things up. Like one of the other mom's, my baby was a little big for me which made a big mess for me, but I'm small (5'1) and my husband is a big guy (6 ft) with a big head. Recovery was a little sucky, but obviously not enough to scare me, cause here I am with baby 2. I think you should definitely invest in some natural inducers (raspberry leaves contain some sort of chemical that is similar to what your body makes when it is time to deliver, and sometimes it tricks your body into starting labor). But I would wait closer to the 40 week mark or medical need for a hospital induction.
