Fussy while asleep?

My 3 week old is fussy while he’s sleeping. He isn’t like waking up crying, he’s whimpering and whining and squirming while he’s asleep, and only seems to stop completely if I hold him (this hasn’t been an issue until the last night or so). Any idea what I can do to help him? I hate seeing him so restless and he just sounds miserable

Most babies are noisy sleepers. Maybe he's just sleeping deeper now so he's making more noise? If he's not rested when he wakes or not settling during the day I'd take him to a doctor just to be sure everything is okay though seeing as he was a sound sleeper until recently. I'm sure it's nothing but I'm way over cautious with babies.

My daughter did that at that age and still does it and she is 1

Maybe because when you hold him there is a bit of an incline. My daughter had silent reflux so that eould bother her and she slept so much better when there was an incline. Sometimes she would want to be burped (again) after a while (because of my fast let down she would gulp a lot of air while nursing, so burping her just once after feeding was not always enough to make her comfortable).
