Tummy crib sleeper- can he bang his head while rolling?

Question

Finally accepting that my 6 month old sleep abetter on his stomach or side and not going in to flip him anymore...... but I am sooo worried that when he rolls around in the middle of the night or at bedtime while he’s settling himself he is going to roll and hit his head or legs on the sides 🙇🏽‍♀️
Today he turned his body almost all the way 90 degrees and was on the width of the crib ! 
Usually he’s trying to roll into tummy but gets stuck on the back board so I see him attempting the roll multiple times on the monitor and then up volume to make sure I don’t hear a thud or other noise and extra crying 😓
Anyone else paranoid about crib safety ?

Moving in your sleep is normal so I'd never be concerned about that. I'll put our 9 month old down on her tummy facing one direction and she'll always end up rotating and rolling all around her crib throughout the night. She sleeps in every position imaginable in that 12 hour period. She's also bumped her head plenty of times. It wakes her for a split second and then she passes back out. Sometimes she doesn't wake at all from it. I don't find this to be a safety issue. What's a safety issue is adding things like bumpers (even mesh ones) or crib wedges or whatever it may be to prevent them from rolling and/or getting their legs caught. A bumped head or stuck leg is far better than possible strangulation or suffocation. Let your baby move freely.

Yeah, we use the the breathable crib bumpers. Our babies are wild sleepers and used to hit their heads and get their legs stuck.  It’s much better for them now that we have the bumpers on..

They’re going to hit themselves occasionally but it wouldn’t be hard enough to injure themselves.

Rolling around and sleeping in weird positions is totally normal! I don't recommend crib bumpers due to SIDS risk. It's just not worth it in my opinion. I wouldn't worry about bumps and weird positions... your baby will figure out what position is most comfortable for him. ☺

My daughter moves a ton. She often does roll onto the sides of the crib, in fact she prefers to sleep touching the sides. It doesn’t bother her. She just rolls back or or stays there. I’m guessing it’s bothering you more than it’s bothering them.

When my son started moving around, that’s when I put bumpers because I didn’t want his leg getting stuck. He only slept in it like 3 times. He sleeps with us now

Yes they will bump around like a bumper car at first. But they will never do so with enough force to actually injure themselves. We got breathable crib bumpers, and when my son was pulling himself up and dropping down a lot we upgraded to thicker ones on the top and bottom of the crib.
