kick counts?

hey everyone, I was just wondering how seriously you stick to kick counts. I'm 33 weeks and I haven't really been keeping great track. I just know that he's pretty mobile. what are your guys thoughts on it?

Nope! Not unless I’ve had a really busy day and think “hmmm I haven’t really felt her move today” then I’ll take the time to eat something sugary and make sure she’s still kickin’. But most days she’s moving all the time so I don’t stress over it

I know my little guys pattern and if he seems quiet, I lay down and do the counts. But I only had to do that once lol. He is super active for the most part, so thankfully, he doesn't stress me out!

As far as I'm aware we don't even do it in the UK. My midwife hasn't mentioned it and when I've googled it all I can find is that sometimes they tell you to do it as reassurance if you start thinking your baby isn't moving. I wouldn't worry about it seeing as we don't even keep track of it at all here, it clearly isn't important.

I haven’t done any yet this pregnancy because I know he meets the minimum without actually counting. If I was worried something was off, then I definitely would do it.

Not at all.  Lol.  I’d never even heard of that before.  My son does gymnastics inside my uterus so I’m pretty sure he’s coming along strongly. 🤗. My first born didn’t kick ass much but was big and healthy and is just a chill kid.  I think this guy will be our hyper one. 😉👍🏽. I don’t know.  I think there’s so much to do.  I don’t have time to count kicks.

Here in UK they now use the thought process of if babys movement is different from what you are used to, then get checked over. Babies normally have their own routine, unique to every mum and baby. The person who knows that best is Mum. My baby was sooooo active and suddenly quietened down, now Im being monitored twice a week and they scan me every week for growth and fluid checks.

I’m not actually counting anything but instead mentally noting that at certain times I know baby active she’s being active.

I asked my midwife at my 28 week appointment and she actually discouraged kick counts because it can cause unnecessary stress. My little one is quite active unless I feel like superwoman and move around all day. Then she has a party when I finally sit down. I think during pregnancy we are so aware of our bodies and the little ones inside them that we all know when they are having an off day and can do something to check on them. But hey if kick counts squash a fear for you do them!

I haven't done a kick count this whole pregnancy. As long has I feel the baby move I don't get worried and if I have a busy day and haven't been keeping track all I need to do is relax for a bit and I feel the baby move right away!
