34 weeks and already effacing😕

I went for my 34 week check up and my doctor decided to check me only to find out I was already 60% effaced and 1cm dilated. Any ladies find out something similar and still have their baby around their due date? My doctor seems to think I’ll have a 37 weeker ( my first came on her due date)
