My cousin's name is Mackenzie and she doesn't go by a nickname really so I think it depends on that.

I think you're more getting at if you call them Mack and Jack? My sister's name rhymes with mine. We are now both totally functional adults and survived childhood. There was a lot of using middle names though. Honestly you're the one who has to live with it so if you like the names go for it and to heck with what everyone else thinks
