Hi guys, I'm in my second trimester and went into the hospital a couple of days ago for what I thought was a UTI. The doctor ended up doing a pap smear and checked for stds. I got my results yesterday and apparently I tested positive for Trichomonas Vaginalis. I'm in complete shock. He says he hasn't cheated and I sure as heck haven't. So how on earth did I end up with an STD? Is there any other way to contract this specific std without contracting it from someone else?

Edit: I don't think I could have contracted it from another relationship as I had a Pap smear done about 7-8 months ago and everything came back clean. I also tested after I broke up with my last boyfriend which was 3 years ago. Hubby and I have been together for two years.

Update: For everyone asking, we went to the doctors and he explained that trich can most definitely lay dormant for a couple of years. Men don't usually experience any symptoms, so he could have easily transmitted it to me or the other way around. Not all doctors test for trich, which explains why I had clear paps last year. Doctors usually test for chlamydia and ghonorrea Both of our exs cheated, so it's very possible either one of us could have contracted it that way. My husband and I are together 24/7, we run our own business together, so I was shocked when I found out I had an std since hubby and I are rarely ever separated.
