Scaly Skin from Sunburn

yesterday i was at the beach and applied sunscreen on my face but it still got pretty red. my chin has a scaly feel to it. i think its caused by the sun so i attempted to cover it with make up but it looks worse. how long till it smooths out and is healed? & is there anything i can do to help it?
