Birth control options and experiences?

So my mom says she is taking me to the doctor this week to put me on birth control🙄 but I have no idea what to chose and I don’t have a good relationship with my mom so I can’t talk to her about it, so I turned to eve. I already know I don’t want the IUD, and I’m not too fond about the shot because I dislike shots and I’ve heard it causes osteoporosis down the road. I also don’t want nexoplan so the only think I can think of is the pill, but there are so many different kinds with or without hormones and I don’t want to mess up and chose one that makes my skin break out or makes me gain weight or makes my period heavier. What is the birth control you use and how has it effected you?

I have the implant (Nexplanon). When I got it my doctor said it was the most effective birth control option beside absence, of course. I haven’t had any side effects. The only this is when I got it when they put the numbing stuff in my arm that hurt but not to bad and then when they inserts the implant I didn’t feel a thing. The next day I had bruises around it it lasted for less then two weeks and now it’s nit noticeable at all. You can feel the implant in your are witch my doctor said it was a good thing so you can make sure it is in the same spot. Where the implant is you can’t notice it at all and it doesn’t hurt to touch anymore. The first week it hurt when I touched it but only if I touched it really hard. If you do get it follow all the directions. Like keeping the bandage on for 24 hrs and the actual band aid on for 4 days and keep it clean. I went to the store right before I took the bandaid off and got alcohol pads to clean it and I whipped it off with those a few times a day just to make sure it’s clean. I got mine for free so if the cost is in consideration use your insurance. The implant it’s about the size of a match stick ( like the website says) and it’s not noticeable. And it last for up to 4 year so that’s good and it’s a get it and pretty much forget it type of birth control. Hope this helps.

The mini pill doesn’t have estrogen, so it won’t make you break out. But the thing with it is you HAVE to take it at the SAME time everyday which can be a hassle and sometimes you’ll forget. But if you don’t take it at the same time it won’t be effective.

Talk to your doctor about your concerns, theyll recommend a pill they think is best for you. Theres also the patch, too.

the mini pill will stop your periods similar to Iud and nexplenon but it isn't as effective as a combination pill. tell the Dr your concerns about what poured looking for.. ex.. like breakouts or weight gain.. look into nuvaring also its highly effective and its super easy to insert!!! xo
