Is it acceptable to tell someone “no problem” rather than “you’re welcome” In response to someone thanking you?
I think it’s actually more rude to say you’re welcome. That’s literally saying “you are welcome to thank me for helping you, I deserve your thanks”. Saying no problem is saying “it wasn’t a problem. Helping you doesn’t bother me. No worries”. I hate saying your welcome, but if I’m talking to an older person I try to say it, because saying no problem infuriates then. I think it’s ridiculous to get mad at the subject. Both are attempts at politeness and I don’t see a big problem. But I’m curious what you guys will say because I’ve seen some buzz about this lately.
