Laughing gas during labor?

Question

Has anyone heard of or used this? Would love to hear positive or negative experiences. My midwife just mentioned it today. I never heard of this technique before.

I used it with my son, it’s very common in Australia. 
It doesn’t take the pain away, but it does force you to breathe deeply through the contractions and it takes he edge off the pain, a lot of people complain of nausea but I didn’t have any.
I just found it really tiring to suck on the damn tube that hard.
You also can’t use it while pushing so if it’s your only form of pain relief, then you don’t have anything while pushing. 
I definitely found it helpful, sometimes it’s enough to get through it with no other drugs and it only stays in your system for a very short time, 30 seconds or something

I took about 3 puffs before I decided it was not for me. I didn't like how I felt out of it while I was trying to go through active labour. I did like how quickly it left my system with no side  effects, so that's a plus.
My best friend through labour and delivery was the TENS machine that I rented from my midwife. It was honestly a lifesaver for me the first time and I'm looking forward to using again now I'm expecting my second.

It’s not available in Nevada, where I am, but it’s considered a more “natural” pain relief technique. I used Hypnobirthing (Mongan method) and LOVED IT. No external pain management needed! The most painful thing about my 5hour, first time delivery was when a medical student administered my perineum stretching.
