Do tattoos hurt when you get them?

A friend is getting a tattoo and she wants to know if it hurts or not

rotflmfao I used to have tons of peircings and I've been tattooed before. one shop I went to, the owner placed a handmade sign over his board of price ranges and it read: "stop asking which peircings or tattoos hurt the most. I will not Peirce or Tattoo you if you do. I will kick you out. They all hurt. "  basically any peircing or tattoo you get is going to hurt to some degree. every individual human's tolerance or sensitivity to pain is different so no one can really tell you how much it's going to hurt you if you have it done. just know that needles putting things or ink into your body are going to hurt.

Of course it is going to hurt. It all depends on your pain tolerance. I have a tattoo that took 5 and a half hours on my back, I thought it was not bad kinda enjoyed it. I worked on my breathing and was almost in a meditative state. I was talking to the artist but I was very relaxed.

I have a really low pain tolerance. I got a tattoo on my thigh yesterday and the first line he made I laughed and said it tickled. Yes the shading is the worst part to me. What helped me was the artist just talking to me about random stuff the whole time and would take breaks ever so often (like 30 second breaks) just to talk and help me relax. I honestly think that the artist has a lot to do with the amount of pain you feel.

It's more of an irritating mental pain, when you go get one treat yourself that day and feel like a million bucks when you walk in. It totally won't hurt as bad, get high on life. Lol

I’m pretty sure they all hurt but some hurt worse than others. But if she goes in expecting it to hurt she could be pleasantly surprised or it could be what she expected 🤷🏼‍♀️
