Is coonhound an offensive word?
It is a type of dog, for those who don’t know.
I had a friend over and I said to my husband “can you let the coonhound inside?” She was disgusted that I would say such a thing, even after I explained to her that’s just my dog’s breed.
She insisted that it’s a horrible name for any breed of dog, and it should be changed.
So what do you guys think? I agree using the term ‘coon’ to describe people is racist and wrong...but I don’t think the dog breed name is wrong.
