Who else is going to do baby led weaning

Question

I really like the idea of this and that you get to involve your baby while you eat and teaching how to chew then swallow. I’m nervous about choking but I’m really excited for when he’s 6 months to experiment with new foods.

I really love the idea of BLW but our pediatrician recommended we start iron enriched oatmeal at 4.5 months. I hope to do just that and then maybe BLW at 6 months

Was so excited to try it with my first and then the mess ensued.... Loool, I was pregnant again when my first was 6 months so I just couldn't handle cleaning up a disaster every single meal time. I stuck to BLW for breakfast and snacks. Sometimes dinner because then hubs would come home and give him a bath 😋. It's fun, a bit time consuming to find recipes and things that they can hold and eat and the mess is also a bit time consuming too, but yes definitely a great experience as a FTM mum.

I am! I just ordered these really cool self led weaning spoons which are good for teething too! No metal pieces. A bit pricey for two spoons, but worth it. ($14)

Once my son can sit up I will give him foods he can eat on his own (bananas, avocado etc) but unless dinner is something he can eat on his own, I will blend it up and feed it to him that way. I know it kind of contradicts baby led weaning but I think it's what will work best for us.
