HSG routine after ectopic?

I had an ectopic pregnancy in January with ruptured tube, so I had my tube removed. We have just started TTC again. I keep seeing posts on here about women having an HSG after their ectopic. I haven’t had one and it wasn’t recommended by my OB. Do you think it’s routine and I should ask for it to determine how patent my remaining tube is?

Hi Sara, I had a ruptured ectopic in Sept 2017 and just got the HSG done last month to make sure my remaining tube is good.  It was a relief to know that it is! Also they say your chances of getting pregnant are higher for a few months after the test.  Good luck, and sorry for your loss.

I had one done years after my eptopic due to still not getting pregnant over 5 years later. And then my OB/GYN ordered one for me.

My fertility specialist is having me doing HCG labs only because I did the methotrexate. You could ask your ob/gyn about an internal ultrasound to make sure your other tube is functioning properly. Usually use saline. Very easy procedure. I will be having that same procedure once my HCG is down to 0. And if all is working ok the I’ll get the ok to continue TTC!
