Am i being stupid?

Question

My husband and I are big movie goers.  I have a 3 day old and I know that I need to establish  breastfeeding.  My husband wants me to go to a movie with him in 2 days.  I have been pumping just a bit after she feeds to empty me out.  Do you think spending 3 ish hours away during the first week is okay?  I plan to nurse before we leave and as soon as we get home. Now, I’m not sure where to live, but in Canada movie theatres have special times during the week when they show movies in a “baby friendly” environment. :) I saw several movies with my first baby and was able to nurse her while watching the movie. 
They lower the sound so it’s not damaging to baby’s hearing and if your baby fusses a little it’s fine :)
Might be worth looking into baby friendly screenings! Friends and husbands are also welcome too.

I would not but I could not see being away from my son for 3 or more hours. When he was a week old. He was 4 months old before we left him with a sitter. To go to the movies.

Personally, I couldn’t stand to be away from my newborn. I cried the first time. It took months for me to go grocery shopping for 30 minutes without her. 
If you’re comfortable with it, then go enjoy!

Here’s the problem. 
Will it effect your milk? No. One time of you not letting baby latch won’t do damage but you have to run the risk of your LO needing a bottle while you are away. Then that raises the questions:
Will your LO actually take a bottle? 
Will it cause nipple confusion? 
Will your LO take the breast again with out issues? 
My first two boys flipped between bottle and breast early on with no issues at all. My third baby we had to start giving bottles of breast milk after each feeding bc he wasn’t strong enough to get the required amount from the breast and a bottle makes them work less for the food. He is now 3w old and only takes he breast as a comfort measure. He no longer actually eats from the breast bc he has learned the bottle (despite using a slow flow premie nipple) is easier. So now I’m an exclusive pumper. Very very exhausting. 
I’m not saying don’t go. Heck. Mom and dad deserve their time too. I’m saying maybe have a back up plan Incase your LO refuses a bottle and you need to leave the movie. And who ever is feeding the baby have them do paced feedings. Helps to decrease nipple confussion.

i couldn't leave my baby at a week old. Plus the first 2-3 weeks are really crucial in the supply.

I personally wouldn’t be able to leave my brand spanking new baby to go see a movie. I’d try to take him/her at first before leaving them

You aren’t being stupid !!! If you have someone to babysit why not let them !! Lol I learned to take advantage haha plus it’s nice to have a little break and get away for a little bit 👍 you went through a lot and some time alone can be great for you

I didn’t leave my baby until she was 2 weeks but it’s whenever you feel comfortable. The baby will be just fine and will probably be asleep the entire time you’re gone.

See if any cinemas near you have a ‘crying room’ they are sound proof & baby friendly with a change table etc. 
That way if you do go, you can take the baby
