PCOS and 1st round of Clomid

I'll start by saying I have PCOS and haven't had a period in 6 years. I recently went to an OB-GYN who put me on 10 days of progesterone which started my period and I am now taking 50mg clomid days 3-7. My OB doesnt have me coming back in until CD 21 to check progesterone levels to see if I ovulated with this dose of Clomid. From my understanding thats to tell is ovulation has already occured... my question is should I refrain from having sex this cycle since we arent doing an ultrasound to determine if I have multiple follicles or not? If we get pregnant I would be fine with twins but anything more than that and I would probably break down and cry for 9 months. OR do we go for it and try to get pregnant this time around without monitoring the follicles?
