Why do people have a second baby if one is so hard?

Just generally interested and not trying to judge. I originally was up for having 2 kids but im now thinking of having just 1 after hearing all the horror stories and relationship strains.You hear people moan and say how hard parenting children is so why do people have more?

I guess because they are worth the hard work. Something you wouldn’t understand until you actually have one

Because even though it’s hard, it is also the most joyful thing you can ever experience.

I honestly didn't want any but my birth control failed both times. But i wouldn't trade them for the world.

I'm pregnant with baby number 2 because we wanted more kids. My sister and I are really close and I want my little girl to have that close bond with a sibling. it is hard though, sometimes I ask myself why on earth we thought it would be a good idea to have another baby but then I realize that  the troubles we have now won't always be there. You're baby will eventually just sleep through the night so those restless nights for mom and dad will be gone. Or those tantrums will go away. They'll get bigger and things will change. I would hate to decide on only having one then later down the road, regretting it when it's too late. I have talked to people who regretted not having more. More then one kid is terrifying but you'll get through it. it won't always be hard then you'll miss it.

I often wonder that too. I have a 2 year old and we still aren’t sure of having 2 is for us. Someone once told me that they had a second one because they felt like their family was incomplete (not that they didn’t love and adore their first born). I feel like my family is complete with just one. 
Also, only children don’t always turn out to be self centered assholes. I’m an only child and I’m practically a doormat.

My first child is a sweetheart (21 months) and my hubby has been a great dad so I'm now 30 weeks with number two. I fully expect this one to be a little terror though. 😂

Because everything in life is temporary. I always knew I wanted more than one child so my kids would have each other. I wanted to have two at least. I know they will only be little for a short time. Even if it’s hard it’s worth it. I still get nervous about having another one but it’s because it’s an unknown situation. I know I’ll figure it out. But the fear does creep up sometimes.

I say most of the time things get better and many people don't want their kid to be alone. I'm pregnant with number 1 and we'll see how it goes to decide if we want 2. :) hoping my family genetics take a backseat to my husbands. 😂
