No Swaddle = No Sleep, Help!
Hi! My son just turned six months a few weeks ago. The other morning we found him on his tummy with one arm swaddled and the other out (he was put to bed that way). So, last night I tried to just use a sleep sack. Bad idea apparently. He still has a really bad startle reflex and moves his arms a ton (especially his right arm, it’s always in his face). So, long story short he ended up in our bed. None of us really slept well last night. He’s only in our bed for really bad nights (usually constipation or teething related). He is pretty much good with his crib, but only when swaddled. It doesn’t matter if he’s out like a light, still awake, or just dozing off; about 15 minutes and then he’s screaming. Has anyone else dealt with this? Thank you! He apparently hates his binkies now too (I’ve tried several brands and sizes). He has Wyatt the Whale and another crib light which are both used frequently.
Small Update: we’ve been using a swaddle belt for the second night now. Last night he scream slept a few times, and was up around 6 am. Kind of what we expected. He took two naps today both in his crib. One he fell right asleep without needing it! He also went to bed that way for about 20 minutes and then woke up hungry (he slept before I got his bottle ready). We haven’t even used the Love to Dream Swaddle and I highly recommend the Swaddle Belt! Although, my son is a bit chunky for it. 😂 Thank you so much for all the advice and I hope this helps everyone out who was also needing advice!
