Help if you can pretty please!!

I am going to to the doctor but until then I'm hoping to get some advice from. Someone who may have experienced this. The skin around my big toe is swollen tender and the toenail hasn't grown at all for approximately 4 months. I haven't noticed any problems with the nail other than the lack of growth. If someone has had this happen and gotten it resolved any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! First pic is my normal toe to compare to the funky one.
