does birth control come with side effects??

haven’t actually started taking birth control but I wanted to see for the ladies that are on it if there’s any serious side effects that you guys have experienced ?? 
I recently got the pill but I haven’t started taking it just yet. let me know your guys experiences if any major ones !!

Some ladies have side effects, some don’t. I did three months on the first one I was prescribed and had a killer headache every single day so I talked to a doctor and decided to try a lower estrogen one to see if that helped. Currently on Yaz which is not as bad but I also think it could be better so I’m gonna wait out the three months and if it doesn’t improve try a different one again. Some ladies find one they like on the first try, some try several before finding a good one. There’s so many options and so many good doctors out there that can advise and prescribe better options for you. A bit of advice though, always google the pill before you start taking it. I went to a clinic and was prescribed one called Diane which I refused to take as its quite controversial. So do your research, test a few out and track how you feel in eve or elsewhere because eventually it gets hard to remember how you felt before the pill, and how it’s changed since. Don’t let the horror stories scare you away from the pill because so many people are perfectly happy with it. Best of luck!

The first 3 months I had a lot of nausea. Afterwards vaginal dryness, no sex drive, irritability, brain fog, decrease in mood (I don’t want to say depression because I was not diagnosed and it did subside when I stopped taking BC), mood swings. I also started to experience extreme pain in my vagina during sex. It was awful and that coupled with a low sex drive to begin with made me never want to have sex. I saw 2 doctors and they couldn’t figure out what the problem was. It magically disappeared when I stopped taking the pill. I was on it for 3 years

on the pill, I had: chronic nausea, vaginal dryness, decreased libido, increased anxiety and depression, mood swings, irritability, fatigue, diarrhea, acid reflux (ended up developing GERD), insomnia, and I can't even remember what else. on nuvaring, I had: nausea, fatigue, severe aura migraines, increased anxiety, occasional insomnia, some vaginal dryness, mood swings, bright spots in vision, sensitivity to bright lights, acid reflux and probably a couple others. I'm now on the copper IUD and now the only thing I have is heavier periods. I'm sensitive to the hormones in birth control so I get more side effects.
