IUD or pill?

So my periods have ALWAYS been super heavy. I bleed through a pad during the night when i sleep. I throw up every once in a while on my period. My periods are just awful. Me and my boyfriend have sex every once in a while and after every time i get scared that i’m pregnant, which i know is common. I wanted to know if IUD or BirthControl pills are better to help protect me from pregnancy and help get rid of my horrible period?

I’ve had Mirena IUD for almost 4 months. I never had heavy periods but I’ve already stopped getting them except for a couple days of spotting.

the mirena iud is fda approved to reduce heavy periods by 90% after the first 6 months. and some women stop getting periods after the first year. as a heavy bleeder myself I am looking into getting this method. right now I'm on the pill and it has reduced my periods from 7 days to 4. reduced my flow from super heavy to medium and light which I love. I do take it on time and we don't use condoms. I haven't gotten pregnant.
