I have been told by numerous people in IT that if social media or an app is ‘free’ to use, then there is something the host is getting from you. This may range from personal information to forcing a platform for you to view ads they make money on. This makes complete sense to me because people don’t run apps just out of the goodness of their own heart, there has to be a benefit.

Now with Facebook being in the spotlight over sharing personal information, I am wondering how many people would pay money for social media and if so, how much would you consider reasonable? Would you pay a monthly user fee? If not for all maybe for some?
