is living in a apartment a bad thing till you buy a house?

I have a 5 month old, and 2 dogs. I'm a SAHM while my husband supports his family. an apartment is cheaper, but I feel like I'll have judgement from people thinking "really they live in a apartment" or "they could do better" when in reality it's not that I don't want a house, just want to live cheaper. plus we're moving out of state to live cheaper as well. What are y'alls thoughts?

It’s totally fine!! In CA a lot of people live in apartments or rent houses. Nobody can afford to buy 🤷‍♀️

Outside of North America, most people live in apartments/flats.  And since money issues are one of the major drivers for divorce/separation, anyone who judges you for choosing a lifestyle that works your family either isn't worldly enough or financially saavy enough to be worth listening to.

It depends. 
In my area I don’t understand (aside from credit trouble) why anyone would pay $500 a month for an apartment when it’s the same amount rent or mortgage on a house. 
Other cities and states are different though.

As long as you have enough room for everyone and you live in a safe home no one should be judging you. We rent but we live in a townhouse which is a little bigger than an apartment but smaller than most houses. We’re saving up for a down payment on a house for the next 4 years and we will have two kids in this house in July and two cats. If people want to judge me for it I don’t really care cause it works for us. If that works for you you shouldn’t be ashamed of it. Plus it’s easier to live in a small space while the kids are small. We only have one full bathroom which isn’t an issue now but as our kids get older we know we’ll need at least a home with a second

We're paying $1700 in rent, and the mortgage for the house we want would be about $1500... but we need $200k for the 20% down.. for a shitty, small, two bedroom house. Fuck the housing market.

We are paying $500 a month for rent in a small 2 bedroom shitty apartment right now. With 2 kids, and a cat. We will be here for the next few years until we can get a 20% down payment for a house. Which will probably be 40k or so

Many of my friends have their babies in smaller spaces and it’s fine it’s not like your kid is never going to leave the house, plus it’s so much easier to clean in a smaller more organized space.
