I have had my nuvaring in for exactly 2 weeks now. I am supposed to take it out next Tuesday, and I have a question about the effectiveness of it. My gynecologist told me that, just to be safe, I should use backup birth control methods for a month when having sex because it works best after a month, but I’m seeing online that if your nuvaring is out for more than 3 hours, you are officially unprotected, and you won’t be protected until you’ve had another nuvaring in for 7 days. Im going on vacation the week after my period to visit my boyfriend, and I need to know if I am going to be protected! I plan on inserting a new nuvaring on the correct date. Does this apply every single month that I use it, or is it just for people who have just started the Nuvaring?
