Persuasive speech topics on veganism? 🐷

I’m writing my college persuasive speech on veganism or the food industry and I need some ideas!

(I’m not trying to steal anyone’s ideas, just find a narrower focus 🙂)

IMO the most compelling arguments are selective compassion and its inherent damage to our humanity and the scientific data on how animal agriculture are destroying our planet. Yes, of course, the consumption of animal flesh and its horrible health repercussions is also a data backed up argument however, the vast majority do not eat for health. They eat for pleasure. Which is why you get EXTREMELY insensitive responses like "But bacon?" when trying to have a discussion with meat eaters on why a vegan diet is much healthier.

The health and environmental argument are best because you can use statistics and more resources to support the claim. Ethics won’t persuade everyone simply because no matter what- not everyone values animals enough to change their benefit. Humans are naturally selfish. If you show them “doing this will help YOU” they are more likely to do it as opposed to “doing this will help another species that you haven’t really considered until just now.” Not to mention when people use the ethical argument, it sometimes backfiring and makes people offended and will make them consider veganism less.

Food deserts and how they effect the ability to access healthier food options in what are usually lower income and disenfranchised communities. And how this leads to a sort of food elitism from those who do have easy access to healthier food options.
