Breakthrough bleeding on bc?

I am on birth control, combination pills to be exact and I have been on it for a year. I had a weird period in March, I took a pregnancy test to ease my nerves even though I know the chances are very small since I am on the pill and use condoms every time I have sex and it came back negative. However right now I’m on my active pills (two weeks from my period) and I’m bleeding? It’s like bright red blood with some cramps and stuff. Is this a sign of pregnancy or what’s going on?
