Any advice?

I found out Wednesday that I more than likely have an ectopic pregnancy. I had to have my right tube removed in August due to one and now at 7 weeks and my Hcg above 3000 they are unable to see anything in my uterus. They are recommending Methotrexate this morning and I am so torn and everytime I think about it I just cry and can't bring myself to say yes. Any words of advice?

I’m so so sorry for what you’re going through. I’m just finishing up treatment for an ectopic pregnancy and it has been so hard. I was in he same boat as you with high HCG and no visible sac anywhere. I decided to have the methotrexate injection simply because I wanted to try and preserve my fertility. My advice if you’re going to go this route is to be prepared for a long wait.
I will explain the process in case it helps ease your mind a little. They give you the methotrexate injection which is a drug they often use to treat arthritis or even as a chemo drug for cancer patients. It blocks folic acid in your body and basically stops fast-growing cells like a tumor, or in this case, an embryo. I’m not going to lie, it made me feel like CRAP for about a week, but I got through it. You’re not allowed to take prenatal vitamins or anything with folic acid during that time because it could make the methotrexate not work. Four days after your shot they’ll bring you in for a blood test to measure your HCG. Most times it has gone up by then, which is normal. They bring you in again a week after your shot and if your level hasn’t dropped enough by then, they’ll give you another shot and start over. If it has dropped, they’ll just bring you in for weekly blood tests until your HCG is all the way down to less than five. What I wasn’t prepared for was how long that would take. It took 7-8 weeks for mine to drop all the way. It was a really long time for me mentally. 
It helped me to sit down with my doctor and formulate a plan for the next time I decided to get pregnant (if at all). Next week I’m going in for an HSG test where they shoot dye up into your uterus and tubes to check for any blockages. I’ve heard from other women and my doctor that this test increases fertility a little too. Then when I do get pregnant again (however long that takes), I’ll come in for HCG tests again until my levels reach 1500 and then I’ll have an ultrasound to make sure the baby is in my uterus this time. Chances of having another ectopic go up a lot once you’ve had one. However, the chances of having a normal pregnancy are still quite high.

I may be a little late commenting, I had to have two shots as my levels kept raising. I felt rubbish after them! It took me about three months to feel normal again..I was so tired and lacked energy! I also picked up every cold going which isn't like me. But it means you save a tube. The injection doesn't hurt. It's a long old road but really listen to you dr in terms of no exercise, no sex, no parentals etc and you'll be fine. So sorry your going through this, it's horrible x

Im sorry for your loss. My first pregnancy was ectopic last Feb 2018. If you already lost one of your tube, maybe methotrexate is the best option this time as your doctor suggests, less invasive and beneficial for your future fertility. I was on methotrexate too and thank God that all my tubes are safe. Praying that may the Lord place His peace and comfort in your heart during these times.

I’m sorry you are going through this again. I had the shot two weeks ago and especially since you have already lost a tube and still want a baby I would definitely get the shot. It honestly wasn’t that bad for me besides I got extremely tired. My level was 1700 when I started it but my levels dropped really well with the shot.
