So as a first time pregnant mom I wanted to write this for anyone else going through this being that I couldn’t find much about this when I was going through it. At my first trimester screening I was 12 weeks and they tried to measure my baby’s neck but they couldn’t due to the position my baby was laying in, still they pricked my finger and told me everything else seemed fine. A week later I receive a call from the genetic counselor telling me my results came back as a 1 in 271 chance for Down syndrome and told me I had a choice for further testing. I came back in to speak to the genetic counselor and she explained everything then told me that I have a choice in 3 types of additional tests 2 being invasive and one being noninvasive. I chose the noninvasive blood draw because the other ones had risk of miscarriage. When I got the results back everything came back completely normal and I found out I was carrying a baby boy💙. So for anyone going through this please don’t stress yourself out just take things one step at a time and think positive, situations like this will teach you that as a mother you love your child regardless of who they are🤰
