Rice or oatmeal?

My son is 4 months old and my pediatrician said I can start cereal now in his bottle and just teaching the spoon feeding method! Do I start with rice or oatmeal ? I’m not sure

Ew stay away from rice. It has arsenic in it. Go with oatmeal if you insist. That’s just my advice! But most pediatric nurses and ICBLC’s will recommend avoiding the rice cereal. No nutritional value.

I would avoid putting it in his bottle as it even will say on the cereal that it is a choking hazard! Just an fyi, spoon feed if you can!

My daughter’s doctor said start with rice cereal, do that for a week to see if there any reaction to it, then the next week do oatmeal for week.. it can make your baby’s stool harder tho, so watch to make sure your baby isn’t struggling to poop.. and please don’t put cereal in your baby’s bottle as suggested by others.

The oats are healthier! My baby doesn’t care for it in his bottle, so I always spin feed it to him. He hated the taste at first until I added a tiny spoonful of stage 1 bananas.

Sprinkle a little rice cereal in baby’s bottle. Start out small - maybe half a teaspoon or just one teaspoon (it should be able to pass through baby’s current nipple) - and gradually increase from there as baby’s body adjust to it. 
The Gerber cereal has iron added which causes constipation (much like the prenatals did to most of us during pregnancy) so add a drop of Karo syrup to prevent constipation. I had to use a few drops of olive oil instead since Karo doesn’t agree with my daughter.

I tried rice in my sons bottle when he was 3 months since both my parents and my boyfriends kept suggesting it and it just made my baby constipated. I heard oatmeal would be best.
