15 months old - how to teach him NO
I love my son to pieces, but sometimes I just don't know what to do.
He is super active, smart and very curious 15 months old. he runs around and likes to get into trouble. we baby proofed his room, another play area downstairs and our living room to avoid saying "no" all the time. But somehow he still finds things that he knows he not supposed to touch. for example, we have a blackout curtains made of paper in his room. he knows he not supposed to touch it but every time he get a chance (if I forget to put them up before he is out of his crib) he runs and tries to tear them apart. he runs to the trash and tries to open it even after saying no multiple times and trying to distruct him - he still goes there after a while, same with the door (he likes opening and closing it) and gets super mad at us when we leave the doors close. these are just a couple examples... he is super active and funny little men that just is into everything (which i love!) but i really need advice...
whay do you do that helps?
here is what we tried so far:
ignore (when not dangerous)
redirect
take away to another room
saying NO firmly (without smiling or laughing)
raising my index finger and shaking my head
clapping and roarring (a technique from the happiest toddler on the block - he looked at me surprised, laughed and roared back at me before running away. hahaha
what works for you? please share!
I understand that this behavior is normal for his age, but we have baby #2 on its way and I need to find a way to make my son listen (even if just a little bit) 😀
