Late or normal Ultrasound?

My doctor scheduled my first ultrasound until I’m 20 weeks.  I am 6 weeks and had MC last year. Is this normal??? Should I be worried?? How do I know baby is in the right place (not an ectopic) etc.?! 😩

In the United States, the standard of care is to perform one ultrasound between 18-22 weeks. Its actually pretty great that your doctor doesn’t see any medical need to do an ultrasound earlier than that. The standard of care is based on ACOG guidelines, though every office is a little different. Ectopic pregnancies are rate, so I wouldn’t worry about that at all. 
Sometimes, elective screening tests may use ultrasound, so it’s possible that you’ll get an early one if you have certain tests done.

No generally its 12 weeks and then an anatomy scan at 20 weeks.

Because you had a miscarriage I’d ask for an early scan (8-9 weeks). I had one at 8 weeks and will have a second at 12 (NT testing). They usually do an early scan for dating purposes as well, to make sure your due date lines up with your last period, etc.

I had one at 9 weeks and then another at 19 weeks. Very odd that they only scheduled one for 20 weeks.

My doc did one at 6 weeks then 8 weeks then 10 weeks then 12 weeks then 16 weeks then 20 weeks and a 3D ultrasound in the 3rd trimester. I guess he’s picture happy! Lol I’m not complaining!

I have had 2 kids and I've always had them at 8weeks then 12weeks I would re ask for another earlier one x

My doctor policy is the first one is at 10 weeks and the next one is at 20 weeks.
