Washing Diapers

I'm new to cloth diapers and a first-time mom. What's some advice for washing cloth diapers?

We use Nora's Nursery pocket diapers and microfiber inserts. There are directions on the tag are "Wash warm, tumble dry low" but with having a significantly small water heater and wanting to prolong the life of the diapers as much as possible, I: prewash cold, wash cold, line dry diapers and tumble dry low inserts. Is this a good method, is there something else I should be doing, or should I just follow the company's instructions?

The inserts also do usually take two times in the dryer to fully dry, is this normal?
