I’m about to bring home a (probably) 9 year old blind German Shepherd from the shelter. I have never had a blind pet and want to make her adjustment into our home as smooth as possible. I’ve thought about:

*putting a wind chime by the back door so she can find her way back to the house from the yard,

*getting a small bell for my other two dogs to wear so she can hear them,

*using a harness to walk her so I can guide her more easily without tugging on her neck

*we already have a baby gate for the stairs

Any other suggestions to help her adjust?

Update: I brought her home yesterday. It was a rough day. She had blood in her stool and threw up twice, once was all blood. I took her back to the vet I adopted her from and she stayed over night for test and observation. Turns out it was all from extreme stress. She is back home now and resting while she gets used to her brothers and new home. She is absolutely a sweetheart.
