When should my SO go on paternity leave?

Im 36 weeks but my doctors can’t determine my due date. They said it could be May 19th all the way until June 1st and I’m extremely nervous about going into labor when my SO isn’t even close to where we live. He takes about 2 hours to get home and hes 3 hours from the hospital. When should he take off incase our daughter comes early?

You can’t determine that neither can anybody else if you want him for when you have your baby you’re gonna have to be strong enough and wait till you have your baby

My SO took off 2 days before my induction, and I really wish we would have had even those 2 days after Gray was here. 😞 Wait until you go into labor is my advice.

How long can he take off? Is this your first baby? 
You don’t want him to take off early and use up all his leave sitting around waiting for a baby. Of course you want him there for the birth, but then ideally the majority of his leave would be once the baby is born. 
Your first baby usually takes it’s time. Most moms labour at home for hours before going to the hospital, which would give him plenty of time to get home to you. Plus you could always go into labour in the middle of the night, or on a day he isn’t working. He could very well be home with you when it starts and there will be nothing to worry about.

Hopefully you’ll know before you go into labor. I went into active labor around 10pm, but I was laboring and having contractions since 5 that morning. That’s when my SO called in for work and said he wouldn’t be there.
