positive group b strep?

what does this mean? with my first pregnancy I tested negative. why is it positive this time around? 😨

It is a normal bacteria that is present in the body, and sometimes near the birth canal. I was positive my first pregnancy and had antibiotics during labor, they just put it right in your regular IV. No big deal didn't even know the difference and never heard another word about it!

My doctor said 1 in 3 women test positive.  I tested positive with both of my pregnancies.  It isn’t a big deal, you just have to make sure to get to the hospital earlier so they can start the antibiotics

I tested positive also. My mom is absolutely freaking out over it, but it’s just a thing that some people can carry. It doesn’t pose a problem to healthy adults, but can cause problems for a newborn. Just make sure to tell the hospital so they can put you on antibiotics when you get there.

You will get antibiotics at birth.  I had it with my first but not with my second and third.

I just found out I tested positive too.  I was told it’s fairly common and I’d just need to have IV antibiotics at the hospital.

I’ve had it with my first two. My babies were so fast I had no time for antibiotics and both my babies are healthy. I’m testing at my next appointment for this baby.
