Texas?

Question

I want to move from Massachusetts to Texas. any advice on buying a house out of state and some info on Texas. Would really like to get out of here,  way too expensive people are miserable ....you can see where I'm going! I want to start off fresh.

Texas is huge. Life could be very different depending on which area you choose to live in! where are y'all thinking of moving?

I’m a born and raised Texan! Been here my whole life! It is huge so it does depend on which city/town you move to. I’m from Austin and live like 10 minutes south of it which is still considered Austin. Lol I highly suggest Austin, there are plenty of things to do here and lots of housing and job opportunities.  Dallas is great too but a lot bigger. Both have traffic and horrible divers lol.  Cedar park and cities surrounding Austin are great too!

Texas isn't all that either... it depends where you live. you need to physically go look for a place,  cause some people take advantage of the out of state people because they aren't familiar with things here.  definitely do your research first.

Im from Alabama and i lived in Dallas for 1 year.  I HATE TEXAS!!!!!!!  I will never NEVER live there again!

I’m not asking you to answer this publicly but something you may want to consider is politics and your stance on issues and how involved you are with them.  Since Massachusetts is generally seen as a liberal and progressive state while Texas is considered conservative It can be quite a change and take some getting used to. My years in Houston were eye opening. I am in no way saying everyone in Texas is an extreme conservative or everyone in Massachusetts is an extreme liberal. There are mixes of people everywhere in every state but if any of that is important to you it’d be best to research some of those bigger cities and areas and get a feel for them before committing to a house where you know nothing of the area (regardless of your leanings).

My parents just moved from FL to Fort Worth, TX and they loveeee it there!! My brother also moved there too. It’s sooo much cheaper and you can basically get a mansion there for the price of what a 3-2 is here. Go for it !!!

Never ever buy from out of state. You need to physically go there and visit to get a feel for the area and actually look at the houses in person. I wouldn’t even recommend signing a lease from out of state. I have a friend who did that and they greatly regret it. Their apartment is horrible and in the worst part of town (we’re in San Diego). My husbands military. We’ve moved more times than I can count. Trust me when I say you want to physically go there and see the homes first lol and I totally get you in Massachusetts next expensive. We’re currently stuck in San Diego and it’s horrible!! We’re from Maine and while it’s better pricing wise than it is here, it’s still quite pricey. We’re hoping to settle down long term in North Carolina at the end of the year. Life is so much more affordable in the south!!
