So in my circumstance, my mother is a narcotic addict/alcoholic. She is physically abusive, mentally abusive, manipulative, she lies, steals money from family, steals money from friends, steals drugs from family recovering from surgery (my dad had back surgery and took all of his pain medication and was giving him ibuprofen instead), steals from her children and grand children, cheats. I mean she’s kind of the definition of a garbage human being. She has no intentions of getting help or trying to stop because she loves being high or drunk more than anything else. She has been doing this since I was a small child. I honestly don’t know when it started because I’ve blocked a lot of the memories out.

Now obviously, not all addicts are like this and a lot still have a moral compass regardless of the addiction. What would you do if you had an important person in your life that was an addict?
