One embryo or Two?
I had my first initial visit with our fertility specialist. Due to having 2 ectopics and the chances of having other ectopic being very high we were told this was the safest way to have another baby. I only have 1 Fallopian tube left & I have the choice of either having it checked to see if it’s clear and if it is having it removed. (If it’s blocked they’ll remove it regardless). The dr told me since it is risky to get pregnant naturally it would be in my best interest to get it removed. I agree and will probably do just that. So today when we sat down with him, he mentioned only transferring one embryo. Being 30, and this being my last pregnancy for good, I don’t want to risk just transferring one and it not take. Although my dr is optimistic about my chances of getting pregnant. There’s always a chance it won’t work with just one embryo. So I’d rather be safe and transfer 2 embryos to be safe. I know with doing that the chances of twins is very high. I know that with twins the pregnancy is higher risk. My husband and I talked and we both agreed if we don’t get pregnant this time around this will most likely be the one and only time we try IVF. So do I stand my ground for two with if the dr tries to push just one embryo or do I fold and do what the dr says... I’d love to hear thoughts/concerns/experiences. Thank you!
