Who has had a hysteroscopy?

Question

Today I had cycle day 3 bloodwork, ultrasound and follicle count. The dr said everything was perfect and ideal. 
Next they want to do a hysteroscopy that we can’t afford so I have to pass. Not covered and 3,000 dollars.
If he said everything was perfect why not an HSG? Has anyone had this done?

That's a little odd! My fertility doctor tries to avoid the scope and always does the HSG because it is so minimally invasive. I'd look into your specialist and potentially switching. We paid out of pocket for my HSG (no infertility stuff is covered in my state) and it was $850, which is slightly more palatable.

I did both. It’s different procedure. Hsg is to check if your tubes aren’t block/clear. 
Hysteroscopy is using small camera go in your uterus to check if there’s any fibroids or polyps. If he suggests hysteroscopy they must have seen something there. After I did my HSG my doctor suspected a polyp and we did SOnogram to confirm then hysteroscopy/myoetocmy 
It is expensive but if you’re doing IVF I think that’s necessary procedure.

Just do the hsg , it see's into the womb,and makes sure the tubes are open. I've had 4.

If you are doing IVF a hysteroscopy will be very much needed. They call it “a no surprise at the time of transfer” The procedure is inserting a little camera and looking everything is good in there. For example some women may have the uterus inverted (I’m sure there’s a medical term for it) and not knowing something is not what it’s supposed to be could potentially interfere with the embryo transfer and that’s definitely a bigger loss! That being said, your clinic is extremely expensive for that procedure. I paid $850, it’s still expensive but more acceptable than $3000! Best of luck with everything 🤗

I'm traveling to Boston tomorrow to have one. I have ashermans syndrome (scarring in my uterus). The dr I'm seeing does the procedure in office so no need for anesthesia.

Can you get a regular OB/GYN to order the procedure? Mine ($4000!!!!) was mostly covered by insurance that way because it wasn’t classified as an infertility treatment.
