Tipping hairdressers? 💇🏻‍♀️

I always tip at least 20%. In my opinion, if you can’t afford the tip, you can’t afford to get your hair done. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m a hairstylist in a chain salon. I don’t get to keep anything but tips and I make minimum wage. It doesn’t feel very good when someone says they love what I did, but they don’t tip. I’ve worked for hours on someone’s hair and they don’t leave a tip. I could’ve done 5 cuts in that time and made $25 if everyone just tipped $5. The only time I’m ok with someone not tipping is if they just get a cut, because sometimes you can’t afford a tip, but you still have to get your hair cut. You don’t need to get highlights, toner, scalp treatment, and a cut if you “can’t afford to tip”.

It depends. If I like it and/or it took a decent amount of time to do then yeah I’ll tip. I tipped my hairdresser $15 the one time when it cost $25 simply because I liked what she did, even though it was just a touch up on red hair dye in my ends and black on my roots. But I also don’t see why tipping is completely necessary if I ask for an inch or less to be cut off my hair and it will take less than 10 minutes to do and about $10.

i think you should always tip even if it just $5 to show gratitude (obviously only if they did a good job) but if you get a huge amount of work done (color, cut, style, keratin, treatments, ect.) then i think you should tip a bit more, again only if they did a good job

WHY tip a Hairdresser you pay for your hair to get done and that’s it. It's like throwing money at them when there's already an agreed price. Salons and personal appointments aren’t restaurants?

I live in the UK. Tips are usually small. I will always tip if I’ve been provided a great service.
I’ve been to hairdressers where they hardly talk to you and you could be sat there four hours for just a simple cut and blow dry.
Basically I will tip well if they’re good if not I definatly don’t tip and never return 😊

I only do if I like how it turns out. This last haircut the lady butchered my hair. So no tip and I complained. She was extremely rude also.
