Worst anesthesiologist EVER birth story

Amber

Well I suppose I’m a little late posting this but better late than never. My baby girl was born January 12 11:07 am. She is my second baby girl. My due date was 01/05/2018. My first was born when I went into labor at 39+2. Miss Blake decided she was going to be stubborn. I was 41 weeks with no signs of labor. My doctor decided to schedule my induction (which I really didn’t want). So I was getting ready that morning and I was in pain however, I ignored it bc I have had kidney stones this pregnancy and have been in pain since 29weeks. Therefore, I’m brushing this off as that or the fact that I’m 41 weeks pregnant and just in pain all the time. 😂 So I go to my induction and btw for those of you afraid of induction it truly was a very relaxed experience idk why I was afraid of it. I get hooked up and the nurse checks my cervix. At my 40 week app I wasn’t dilated only effaced about 70 percent. The nurse says ummm you’re 5cm and already in labor. 😳 I asked if I was having contractions bc I thought I might be but I wasn’t sure. She said yes you’re having contractions every 4 min. 😳 oh okay. I didn’t realize. This is all around 8 am. My doc breaks my water and contractions are picking up. I’m progressing fast so my doc says I should go ahead with my epi. So I get that done. I’m laying in the bed and I keep feeling my contractions but I just chalk that up to maybe the epi hasn’t kicked in yet. Around 1030 I feel a ton of pressure so I call the nurse and she says it’s time to push. So we call the my dr and I’m squeezing my husbands hand. I told him I could feel all my contractions I don’t think my epi numbed me very well. (Had the epi with my first and couldn’t even move my toes) he said are you sure it’s on? I said yes don’t say anything I’ll deal. I’m squirming bc well I’m hurting and waiting on my dr. And my husband tells my nurse anyways. My wonderful dr shows up (i LOVE my ob he’s the best) About that time we realize the anesthesiologist NEVER TURNED THE PUMP ON. So the whole time i had the needle in my back but there was no medicine being administered. It was too late now so I got to have a natural birth. The pain did motivate me and truly it helped me to push bc I could feel what my body needed to do. I’m on the petite side and this baby girl was larger than my first weighing 8lbs. So when I was having a little trouble getting her out the nurse pushed on my belly. Finally she’s out crying and healthy. My dr is sewing me up and I’m so happy. I was in pain but so happy. This birth I was alert and in it the whole time. So while no epi wasn’t my pain I’m not too upset that I didn’t have it! My baby girl got here safe and that’s all that matters.
