Is this normal?

This is a list of how my LO (3 days old) has nursed today.

My milk has started to come in today as well. I’m concerned because she’s not eating very well. Yesterday and the day before she ate around 20 mins on each breast. Now today she’ll only nurse for 10-20 mins on one breast and she won’t take the other. And every time I nurse her now she keeps falling asleep while eating and I keep having to wake her up. She cries to be fed every one to one and a half hours. Is this normal?

Her tummy is very small too like the size of a cherry so one boob is probably filling her up. I always kept track for the first few weeks on what side he had fed last and then started with the other side. Now my boy takes both boobs for a full feeding. We cluster fed a LOT during the first few weeks too to get my supply where it needed to be for him. Hang tight Momma it takes a good six weeks to get the hang of it all!

Perfectly normal feeding is actually very tiring for babies which causes them to fall asleep and the first month of feeding will be irregular because first your milk comes in then you over produce just give time for both your baby and your breasts to adjust

Very normal, called cluster feeding. Very common during growth spurts and especially common in the first few weeks. Baby is helping to get your milk in and get supply where it needs to be. I know it sucks to be constantly nursing but I promise it doesn’t last forever lol

Hi Allison, my daughter is also born on the same date and am Ftm too. congratulations! i don't have an answer to your query as i am myself struggling with breastfeeding for a 3 day old. did you use an app to record these timings? also, when it says 20 minutes, does it mean that your baby was sucking breasts for 20 minutes or 20 minutes in total for breast feeding? my daughter sucks for 2 minutes then fall asleep then i need to wake her up then another two minutes, this way i am trying. Is this the right way? i have not got any consultation from the hospital so completely clueless.

My baby girl is a week old tomorrow and literally nursed like 5 times in an hour to hour and a half period today. I know it’s cluster feeding but we’ve also been supplementing formula a couple times throughout the day/ night because my boobs and nipples are so sore!! It’s still somewhat painful to nurse for me... I try to pump as often as I can too only about an ounce in a 20 minute period... having a 2 1/2 yr old boy running around doesn’t alway make it that easy though lol

Is this normal?
