Hospital tours???

How do hospital tours work? Do you just go into the hospital and tour whenever? Do you make an appointment? What made you decide on the hospital you delivered/are delivering at? What are some questions you asked?

Check out the hospital website, most allow you to sign up for tours online or they will provide you with information from there. I knew what hospital I wanted to deliver at so I chose an OB/GYN that was within the hospitals network and delivered at that hospital

My hospital only gives tours when you take their prenatal classes

My doctor only delivers at one hospital so there’s really no point for me. I assume you just have to call and ask when you can do it

I chose my hospital first. I picked the one with the highest level NICU and chose an OB who delivered there. I took a birthing class which included a tour.

I had to set up an appt but they showed us the fastest ways to get to l&d; because the hospital is so big and what the rooms look like and how many people can be in each room at any given time. it was pretty great

I called my hospital and let them know I wanted to see the L&D; area. When they connected me to a nurse there she told me they had a l&d; class that had a tour at the end. I ended up going to the class and getting a tour and it was really rad! You should call up there and see because you never know if they have something else to offer with the tour!

Our local hospitals have a section on their websites that allow you to sign up for tours. The tour will answer most questions you didn’t even know you had. If you have any specific questions related to your situation, it’s a good time to ask. You’ll also have their contact information in case you think of anything else after the fact. Some examples of what to ask are: what are visiting hours, what are the sleeping accommodations for dad, what amenities are provided, etc.

I only have 1 choice of hospital in my town, next closest is over an hr away so don’t have a choice lol

You call the hospital and ask for l&d; and ask the nurses about how to get a tour the hospital i had my daughter at you didnt need an appointment i was able to go in at 7pm and get a quick peek but that hospital is small and has its own birth center off to the side of the hospital only drs and nurses can use the walkway between the 2 everyone else had to go around i went to the hospital my dr practiced at but i did have a choice at going to the hospital a little further away which was at my high risk drs hospital both were 1 hour away so time wasnt an issue
