First time using a tampon?!?!

I tried to use a tampon for the first time today and it just didn’t happen!! I thought I had located my vagina but as I tried to put the tampon in, it just didn’t want to go in what so ever!! Any advice?? 👎🏻

Are you using tampons that have the plastic applicator? they're a little easier to put in. Try putting it in after you get out of the bath or shower, and make sure your using the applicator correctly, you have to put the applicator in your vagina before pushing the tampon in. That could be common knowledge to you, but I had to explain it to someone before so thought I'd clarify here as well. if that don't work you could try lube at the top of the tampon/applicator. also make sure you buy the right size for you!

I was 14 or 15 when I first tried. It took me a bunch of tries but I got it that day because it was either that or I couldn’t go swimming. What I do is basically the directions on the tampon package. I never tried this but maybe you could use a mirror to help. Anyway, get your body as relaxed as you can. Stand with your legs apart and slightly bent or put one foot on the toilet. Insert the tampon and applicator all the way until the finger grip and your fingers are touching your body. If it’s uncomfortable, try taking it or and repositioning. I’ve done that lots of times before. Also make sure you’re using an absorbency that works for your flow. I would think for your first time trying you should use regular or lite to practice. When it feels comfortable, push it in and remove the applicator. *Make sure the strings are out/visible before you put it* Google how to put a tampon in for more helpful info. The Tampax website tells you how.
